Here are a few pictures of my students wood panel linoleum prints and their Surrealism 1 or 2 point perspective drawings. I began the project by introducing the work of Salvador Dali and the Surrealist movement. Students learned how to create symbols that represent their subconscious thoughts about themselves both positive and negative. Each student created 3 or more pieces of architecture using perspective drawing to create their own mixed media piece that reflects their inner thoughts and feelings while showing the technical skills they developed.

6th Graders at Getty Villa in Malibu
In 6th grade, students learn about Greek Mythology. Partnering with our humanities teacher we created an interdisciplinary lesson plan where students research Greek gods and goddesses and then create a ceramic sculpture or vessel inspired by their research. At the end the lesson plan we visited the Getty Villa in Malibu. The students loved the tour and the scavenger hunt I planned for them.
